Moroccan authorities have thwarted an attempt by hundreds of sub-Saharan migrants to reach Ceuta, according to reports from Moroccan security sources. The incident occurred in a mountainous area on the outskirts of Castillejos, southwest of Ceuta.

Spanish media reported that security forces detained several individuals attempting to cross the heavily guarded border between Morocco and the autonomous city of Ceuta, which is part of Spain in North Africa.

It has been specified that the affected migrants were not of Moroccan origin but predominantly came from further southern African countries, adding context to the migratory dynamics in the region.
