Interior Minister Fernando Marlaska has decided to send additional police resources to Ceuta to address the migration situation in the city. According to El País, around twenty immigration specialists are being deployed in addition to the six already stationed in Ceuta to manage the identification and documentation of migrants.

This measure aims to expedite the expulsion of approximately 5,000 migrants currently residing in the city. Furthermore, Marlaska has announced the deployment of 50 new personnel to ensure public safety on the streets of Ceuta.

The agents being sent are part of the Immigration and Resources Coordination Unit, which was formed at the onset of the migration crisis. Their primary goal is to facilitate the identification process for those migrants in the city who have not yet managed to regularize their status.

The situation in Ceuta has prompted authorities to bolster the police presence in the area, both to manage migration and to maintain public order. The government continues to take steps in response to the challenges posed by the influx of migrants.
