Honor Launches Robot Phone with Interactive Nodding Camera
Honor has introduced a new smartphone featuring a unique motorised gimbal camera that nods back at users, targeting growth in a challenging market.

Chinese smartphone maker Honor unveiled its new Robot Phone on Wednesday, which features an innovative motorised robotic camera designed to enhance user interaction. This smartphone includes a three-axis mechanical gimbal capable of four degrees of motion, allowing for both video stabilization and interactive nodding and tilting.
The gimbal camera activates via a hand gesture, unfolding from the rear of the device when prompted. This mechanism aims to provide a unique user experience, setting the Robot Phone apart in a competitive market. Honor's strategy reflects an effort to address the cooling demand for smartphones globally.

While the phone is marketed as a solution for mobile videography enthusiasts, early reports suggest mixed reactions regarding its practicality. Some highlight that the Robot Phone essentially integrates the technology similar to that found in devices like the DJI Osmo Pocket, challenging traditional smartphone features.
The Robot Phone is launching initially in China, with expectations that its interactive capabilities will capture consumer interest and potentially drive sales during a time of market fluctuation.
