Israeli Defense Minister reaffirms troop presence in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz visited southern Lebanon on Wednesday, reaffirming Tel Aviv's position to maintain its troops in the region, as well as in Syria and Gaza. Katz declared that Israel "will not withdraw under any circumstances" its forces, regardless of the framework agreement signed with Lebanon in June, which called for a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon.

Katz's visit to southern Lebanon comes nearly two months after Israel and Lebanon reached an understanding regarding the withdrawal of forces, but the minister made it clear that the security zones will remain under Israeli control. He emphasized Israel's determination to ensure the security of its northern border during this visit, which is viewed as a reaffirmation of the country's military position in the area.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government maintains that the presence of its troops is crucial for regional stability. Katz cited security concerns as justifications for the necessity of maintaining military forces.
