Government promises delivery of 28,000 public housing units by the end of August
An official announcement indicates that an additional 12,000 units are under advanced construction, totaling 40,000 by 2026.

The Portuguese government has announced that it will deliver 28,000 public housing units by the end of August. This commitment was disclosed in a statement by the Ministries of Economy and Territorial Cohesion and Infrastructure and Housing.
In addition to the 28,000 units, the government stated that another 12,000 housing units are currently in advanced construction. This information is part of a broader plan to achieve a total of 40,000 units by December 2026.
The government notes that the deliveries will exceed the targets previously set by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), demonstrating a significant effort to increase the availability of public housing in Portugal.
