Toxic Gas Leak Kills Eight At Bangladesh Shipbreaking Yard

At least eight workers died following a toxic gas leak at the Ferdaus Steel Shipbreaking Yard in Sitakund, a subdistrict of Chattogram, Bangladesh, according to officials. The incident occurred on Friday at a site known for dismantling old vessels imported from various countries.

Witnesses reported hearing screams from within the yard, prompting immediate action as some workers rushed victims to a local hospital. Seven people were taken for treatment, with six confirmed to have lost consciousness due to the gas exposure.

Emergency responders and workers hastily attempted to evacuate those affected. The report from NDTV indicated that at least five individuals were still missing at the time of the reports, raising concerns about the situation.
