The Argentine government is considering a plan to use resources from the Sustainability Guarantee Fund (FGS) of ANSES in the mortgage loan sector. According to the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, this measure aims to address one of the main obstacles faced by financial entities in expanding housing financing.

During a press conference, Caputo explained that the goal is to place FGS resources in long-term bank deposits, which could help banks offer more long-term loans. This approach is considered more efficient than the direct purchase of loans by the FGS.

The Minister of Human Capital and the economic team are collaborating on the development of this scheme, which is currently under study. Caputo detailed that the process involves various financial institutions to ensure its effectiveness and viability.

This analysis occurs in a context where housing financing is a critical issue on the country’s economic agenda, and the proposal aims to respond to the need to increase liquidity in the banking system.
