Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed the importance of keeping political differences from escalating into animosity during a party convention. He pointed out that while differing opinions are a normal part of the electoral process, they should not lead to hostility, particularly in the context of the ongoing tensions between the PML-N and its coalition partner, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Sharif called on Prime Minister Shehbaz to prioritize funding for infrastructure, healthcare, and job creation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). He highlighted the need for AJK to develop at a pace comparable to Pakistan's Punjab province. This appeal underscores his concern for the region's progress amid the ongoing political dynamics.

Additionally, Sharif urged members of the PML-N to base appointments in the AJK cabinet on merit, emphasizing that competent leadership is essential for effective governance and development.

These statements come as elections in AJK are scheduled to occur in three phases, against a backdrop of rising tensions between protesters and government authorities that have been prevalent for over two months.
