Naturalizations in Austria Increased in the First Half of 2026

According to Die Presse, a total of 13,700 individuals were granted Austrian citizenship in the first half of 2026. This represents an increase of nearly one-fifth compared to the previous year.
Most naturalizations occurred for individuals residing in Austria, while the proportion of Nazi victims receiving citizenship declined. Additionally, a promised reform by the governing coalition has yet to be implemented.
