Morocco detains over 110 migrants attempting to cross into Ceuta
Authorities are ramping up security operations to prevent crossing attempts towards Ceuta.
Moroccan security forces detained more than 110 migrants, mostly from Sub-Saharan Africa, attempting to cross irregularly into the Spanish city of Ceuta. According to reports, these operations took place in the area of Fnideq, where surveillance has increased to prevent such crossing attempts.
The detentions occurred shortly after a social media campaign urged people to head to Ceuta, a month after several migrants lost their lives attempting the crossing.
