Malaysia to Ensure Safety of Myanmar Refugees Before Repatriation
Malaysia's foreign minister emphasizes prioritizing the safety of Myanmar refugees ahead of their return.

Malaysia will prioritize the safety of Myanmar refugees in the process of repatriation, according to the foreign minister. As part of this initiative, 1,000 Myanmar refugees have been identified for repatriation and can be sent back without waiting for a larger group of 5,000 to depart together.
Additionally, Myanmar's military-backed government reports that it has verified over 300,000 Rohingya refugees residing in Bangladesh as former residents of the western Rakhine state. This verification comes as the exodus of Rohingya refugees enters its ninth year.
