Forest and energy company employees arrested for extortion
In Kyrgyzstan, a forestry employee and an energy company staff member have been taken into custody for extortion. The forestry worker is suspected of extorting $30,000 from a bidder.
In the Issyk-Kul region, a forestry employee and an alleged member of an organized crime group (OCG) were arrested. The detainee is suspected of extorting $30,000 from a winner of a competition for land use. This was reported by Kaktus.media.
Additionally, in the Kara-Suu district, an employee of the electricity grid was arrested for extortion. According to the press department of the police directorate in the Osh region, he allegedly demanded 12,000 som from a citizen to resolve an issue.
The arrests of both suspects are part of investigations into corruption within various state institutions. Currently, further details regarding the backgrounds of both cases are not known.
