Federal government plans ban on "supervised drinking" for minors
The federal government has decided to prohibit "supervised drinking" for 14- and 15-year-olds, which was previously allowed under adult supervision.

The federal government has announced the abolition of the exception for alcohol consumption for minors. Currently, 14- and 15-year-olds are allowed to drink beer or wine under the supervision of their guardians, a practice that will no longer be permitted in the future.
The regulation stipulates that in Germany, the minimum age for the legal consumption of alcoholic beverages will remain at 16 years. Previously, younger minors could participate in alcohol consumption if their parents or other guardians were present.
According to Deutschlandfunk, this step establishes a clear boundary for this age group in order to fundamentally reduce alcohol consumption in early adolescence. However, it is still unclear how and when the new regulations will be implemented.
