In Wellin, the municipal phase of the emergency plan has been declared due to a large wildfire spreading across fields.
On Wednesday, the mayor of Wellin, Benoît Closson (MR), declared the municipal phase of the emergency plan. This decision follows the expansion of a significant fire that broke out in the afternoon in the district of Halma.
According to reports, firefighters from the Luxembourg zone are on site, supported by the Dinaphi and Liège zones as well as Civil Protection.
The fire has so far destroyed approximately 40 hectares of land. The evacuation of the livestock present is currently underway.
Two helicopters have been deployed to assist in combating the blaze, while the situation is described as critical.
