Contamination leads to swimming advisories at Matosinhos beach
Since Tuesday, Matosinhos Sul beach has shown signs of microbiological contamination, advising against swimming.

Matosinhos Sul beach has faced sporadic closures throughout the 2025 bathing season due to water quality issues. So far this year, the beach has been closed to swimming on 18 occasions.
Since Tuesday, the InfoÁgua portal has reported contamination by enterococci and E. coli in all three areas of the beach, thus prompting warnings regarding water quality.

Currently, the red flag indicating a swimming ban is still awaiting an official analysis, which has not yet been released.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and inform bathers about the risks associated with using the beach waters.
