In the Polish village of Konotopie, which has fewer than 150 residents, a colossal religious statue of the Virgin Mary has been unveiled. This impressive statue stands over 55 meters tall and was inaugurated on the Catholic feast day of the Assumption of Mary.
The statue in Konotopie is taller than the famous statue of Jesus Christ located on the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro. Including its pedestal, that statue measures 38 meters high, highlighting the height difference between the two figures.
The unveiling of the statue was made possible by a millionaire couple who specifically funded this project. This investment is particularly notable for such a small village, where fewer than 150 people live.
Poland is no stranger to large religious monuments. Since 2010, the country has also had an impressive statue of Jesus, which serves as a significant tourist attraction.
The arrival of the statue in Konotopie marks a new milestone for the village, which can now compare itself to larger cities like Rio de Janeiro in terms of religious monuments.
